Studies on the Physical Changes in Corn Seeds during Hybrid Drying (Convection and Microwave)

Hybrid seed drying technology, based on convection and microwave drying, is a modern method, the research physical changes in cereal resulting from hybrid still its infancy. The aim of present paper to study uniformity process by examining occurring corn seeds. An innovative equipment, combining convective was used dry seeds (variety DKC5068). performed during pneumatic transport seeds, using hot air at maximum temperature 50 °C; microwave-based 2.45 GHz microwaves. Thus, were volumetrically heated which does not exceed 44 °C. measured terms moisture, volume, cracking color. results regarding moisture volume proved that moist are more homogeneous than change also changed stiffness showed greater homogeneity after compared wet led an average shrinkage 8.76% with original while percentage showing cracks increased 22%. Generally, color changes, but case inconclusive. requires shorter time significantly influence characteristics, other technologies.
